Software That is Notably Crappy

X-Based Desktops
An afterthought windowing system which will never work right because of a lack of standards, poor font handling, and just general lameness. Inferior to Windows in almost every respect, except that a decent OS possibly lurks beneath. A great rant about why X sucks can be found here.

Internet Explorer
Besides being fast, IE has nothing going for it. It is loaded with security flaws, only recently got tabbed browsing features, and has the feel of software that was written for use by complete idiots.

OpenBSD
Lags behind FreeBSD by about five years in terms of features. It is touted as being a very secure OS, which makes me wonder why it does not have filesystem ACLs or other fine-grained security mechanisms. Userland is difficult to update. Painful installation procedure. Reliability is a side effect from having absolutely no features.

NetBSD
Runs on all kinds of different hardware platforms, most of which are obsolete and useless. Portability is put in front of all else, making it another toy OS.
